F. Rummel piano with pedal keyboard, Antwerp, 1885
Rummel was a piano builder and merchant based in Antwerp. In 1885 he was written down in the Guide Musical as the official Belgian supplier of the instruments of Steinway & Sons and Blüthner. In that same year he receives a golden medal at the universal exposition in Antwerp for his piano with independent pedal keyboard. Nice detail is that Albert Maene, founder of Piano’s Maene, learned to play the pedal piano on this specific instrument during his formation at the ‘normaalschool’ in Torhout.
